When our bright younger citizens, our Millennials, believe there will be a Nuclear War this decade, how should we respond?

We have a responsibility here. What can we do to change it? How about we ourselves fundraise for the brightest, most eloquent and best of our Millennials to become Citizen Diplomats to work on offsetting Nuclear War this year and in 2021? Perhaps we take them in groups of 20 to Russia, the UN and Washington, DC, something big enough to get the attention of mainstream media. Let’s encourage this generation to speak with and for the International Committee of the Red Cross and write articles for the New York Times and other mainstream media … and bombard them with insistance that they print these articles.

Dear CCI Friends,

Please excuse my “hype” but I’m alarmed by the volume of articles coming across my computer about our great military power, lauding past wars, billions of dollars for new space weapons, on and on and on …

What have we Americans come to? WHY are we so ready to consider war with another nation? I don’t get it! Do we not realize the agony and suffering of innocent men, women, and children in other countries? Why in the world do we instigate war games when no other country would think about invading us? These dreaded games will begin this month and go through May 2020! WHY??? Do we realize how much money these games will cost? Or what that money could do for our people if not spent on this war mania?

And lastly, do we not realize that if one accident occurs, the result could be nuclear weapons detonated on our own cities? Note what Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on February 4th:

“Russia will react to the US military exercise in “Europe Defender 2020” due in March, but it will do so in a way that will rule out unnecessary risks. Naturally, we will react. We cannot ignore processes that arouse very great concerns. But we will react in a way that will not create unnecessary risks.”

Why would anyone reject talks to extend the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) which has protected us for years? It’s in America’s national interest to curtail, limit and draw down weapons of mass destruction which will destroy America if ever these weapons are used. Can experts give us a rationale for this rejection that makes sense?

Seldom does an article strike a chord of truth in the heart as does the piece below. Written by an insightful American man, formerly a professor in the south, Hal Freeman is now rearing his second family in the countryside of Russia.

Hal and his wife married and lived in the U.S., then decided to move to Russia several years ago. He frequently writes posts that deal with the differences and similarities in his two countries. Hal loves America and he loves Russia. His is an honest, non-condemning voice regarding both of them.

This latest post is about Putin’s last address to the nation in which he recommended changes to the Russian Constitution. Hal points out that the Constitution changes were a very small part of Putin’s major address. Read, educate yourself and wonder, as do we, how Western media picks and chooses what to reveal to us, the American public.
