A Necessary Absence …

October 26, 2020

Dear CCI Followers,

I’ve had to take a few down days due to an unexpected physical challenge followed by the arrival of my eldest son and his new wife. Both have required concentrated time. I am now physically well. Our family visit will end in two days. The latter has been especially wonderful in that we’ve been able to explore a century of genealogy, verbal family history, photos, etc. – all aspects we haven’t previously taken the time to do.I’ll be back to the current U.S.-Russia issues mid-week.

Sharon Tennison Speaking via Zoom this Tuesday, August 25

August 23, 2020

Dear CCI Friends,

This coming Tuesday, August 25 at 6:20 PDT I will speak via Zoom with my own Rotary Club, the E-Club of World Peace.

I’ve been told that I can invite you to link in. See the invitation below, reserve your spot if you wish to join and get the Zoom link. Also send a confirmation email to: davidwick111@gmail.com.

I look forward to sharing our unusual CCI history of working between the world’s two Superpowers. Once again we have a daunting responsibility to address the issues of war and peace by creating constructive citizen-to-citizen, citizen-to-power relations in the immediate months ahead. I see a way to make this happen independent of political parties.

Join us Tuesday, whether you are Rotarian or not. Makes no difference! We have always worked with all people of goodwill, in addition to hundreds of Rotary clubs across America that supported us as volunteers with our large CCI programs throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Excuse My Absence…

June 27, 2020

Dear Friends and Followers,

Excuse my absence …

I’ve taken this “lockdown” COVID period to go within … to assess our radically shifting world conditions, the disintegration and irrelevance of our two political parties, the massive street violence we are experiencing across the United States, the potential for an unintended Nuclear War with all treaties soon expiring, my family responsibilities, my approaching mid-80 lifespan … and CCI’s future.

With COVID as a cover, I retreated to my 4th floor condo like a hermit while keeping up with Internet news and TV channels I seldom watched in the past. I’ve consulted with a few VIP’s via email and attempted to create several options for new CCI projects/programs after COVID diminishes.

Being one accustomed to creating solutions, my prognosis for solutions and the future today is guarded … if not nil.

This perfect storm for disaster we are experiencing has no adequate potential leaders in positions near power. In any case we will elect a deeply flawed-person as president of our nation-in-jeopardy. Persons who are following this first-ever-such national dilemma are predicting that only a mass awakening of American people will change the outcome –– and I’m not sure this can happen.

Due to Current Conditions, No Emails from Sharon

June 8, 2020

Dear CCI Readers,

Due to Sharon purchasing a new MacBook prior to the lockdown, she still  hasn’t had documents transferred to the new machine. Apple has been boarded up, no appointments until today. They estimate it will take 3 to 5 days to transfer documents to the new MacBook. No emails during this time.

Postcard from Krasnodar: How is Russia doing in an era of Western sanctions?

March 30, 2020

Hi all CCI followers,

We just received an article written by a CCI traveler in 2019. Tom Egan, an attorney from Florida, gives a really interesting account of his perspectives on Moscow, St. Petersburg and Krasnodar. Tom was anything but an excited traveler. He was a typical lawyer, asking tough and sometimes brusque questions and insisting on doing this trip to Russia his way.

I wasn’t aware he was taking notes or that he would consider writing an article. I’m impressed and delighted to get this piece in which he carefully outlines many aspects of today’s Russia. Enjoy!

Great job, Tom!!!
